As an Emergency Preparedness Program Consultant within East Central Public Health District, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.

Job Responsibilities
Under general supervision, supports Emergency Preparedness initiatives within a thirteen-county public health district. Supports the integration of Public Health emergency preparedness efforts with those in the relevant GEMA area. Writes and updates Emergency Operation Plan and annexes. Conducts annual Hazard Vulnerability Assessment. Supports and participates in Public Health and partner training and exercises. Participates in state-wide emergency planning work groups.
Job Responsibilities
• Coordinates disaster response or crisis management activities such as opening shelters, special needs programs, and evacuation
• Assesses community emergency preparedness needs
• Participates in community preparedness events
• Serves as a resource in the development and implementation of outreach communication
• Participates in local, regional, and statewide planning for response to a variety of emergencies and disasters
• Takes the lead role in editing, revising, and writing local health department emergency plans and annexes; become adept at CPG 101 guidance for plan writing
• Writes and maintains local Hazard Vulnerability Analysis
• Assists other emergency preparedness staff with training and exercises both internally and externally with healthcare partners, first responders, and emergency management agencies.
• Helps to maintain emergency preparedness response equipment such as trailers, radios, and other supplies
• Attends key local, regional, and statewide meetings for collaboration, training, and networking
• Complete all requirements to become a GA Certified Emergency Planner within two years of hire
• Be prepared at all times to assist with disaster response efforts
• Works with Training Coordinator to ensure that all appropriate PH staff are trained in use of vital PH emergency response tools, including but not limited to WebEOC, radios, etc.
• Participates with the entire EP team to complete all required quarterly and annual reports.
• Ensures that all DPH grant-in-aid deliverables are met
• Works with GEMA/EMA partners, as well as other local and regional healthcare organizations, first responders, and other area health districts to ensure that all emergency preparedness and response activities are well coordinated
• Is ready to respond in an instant, and willing to work extended hours, nights, and weekends when necessary to accomplish all necessary goals and objectives.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in public health, emergency management, or a closely
related field from an accredited college or university and two years of
experience.
NOTE: Position requires a valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
• ICS 100, 200, 300, and 700
• Experience in public health program management, in areas such as emergency preparedness or emergency management.
• Experience teaching, training, or emergency communications.
• Experience with all hazard planning and plans writing, specifically related to operationalizing planning documents on a federal, state, regional, or local level.
• Experience in the use of MS Word, Excel, Teams, and SharePoint computer application software.
