Job Description Location: Beaumont, TX - 1068 Hwy 90 West As our Maintenance Manager, you'll play a key role in the areas of Plant Engineering, Capital Projects, Maintenance and Utilities. Partnering with the Plant Manager-Beaumont Operations, you'll tackle the individual engineering related items specified below and be responsible for all aspects of maintenance (buildings, production units, and grounds) and utilities. You will make recommendations to the Plant Manager for any necessary and corrective measures, which will result in greater efficiency and economy. You will cooperate with other department managers toward the attainment of the overall company's objectives and manage your subordinates in the most efficient manner. Key Responsibilities Within the limits of approved policies and budgets (Facilities Fixed Cost Budget, Maintenance Fixed Cost Budget), the Maintenance Manager is responsible for and has authority to carry out the following duties. <ul><li>Collaborate with production personnel and management to seek most efficient maintenance solutions.</li><li>Delegate and supervise multiple employees and contractors to accomplish maintenance needs as well as hands-on involvement when the need arises</li><li>Establish strategies to efficiently and cost effectively maintain or increase production in conjunction with management and division priorities</li><li>Enforces all company policies including safety and government safety regulations</li><li>Communicate equipment and facility needs to the Production Manager as needed</li><li>Ability to work flexible hours and be available as needed by the business</li><li>Communicate consistently changes, additions, completion dates and times, and cost and time estimates related to maintenance activities to management</li><li>Help develop plans, programs and procedures that are directed to meeting the plant's objectives in such a manner as to promote the most effective utilization of personnel and equipment to obtain maximum efficiency.</li><li>Plan, recommend and manage continuous improvement programs to reduce costs and improve the general environment of the plant.</li><li>After consultation and in cooperation with the Plant Manager-Beaumont Operations, purchase all necessary supplies and ensure through proper requisitioning, purchasing and receiving methods that such supplies meet with all specifications required. Supplied items should always give consideration to quality, service, delivery, price and community relationships.</li><li>Carry on a continuing program of personal development through proper selection, orientation, training and counseling of assigned personnel.</li><li>Stimulate personnel development through delegation of authority and by encouraging direct exchange of new ideas and concepts.</li><li>Help the Plant Manager-Beaumont Operations develop yearly manpower requirements and provide proper justification of additional manpower needs.</li><li>Development of yearly budgets for the Maintenance department through cooperation with the Plant Manager-Beaumont Operations.</li><li>Through the implementation of and adherence to the Beaumont Operations Guide for Safety Excellence, maintain a climate of good and safe working conditions through strict personal observance of plant safety rules, good housekeeping, issuance of personal safety equipment and initiation of continual safety awareness programs.</li><li>Manage all aspects of the Maintenance Department in accordance with established site maintenance procedures and in compliance with regulatory requirements.</li><li>Manage the Maintenance departments' general plant housekeeping through the development of procedures and practice of the 5S Program.</li><li>Engineering analyses and recommendations in problem solving efforts for all Departments in order to insure that all aspects of problems, including safety and environmental concerns, are addressed. This work includes:<ul><li>Finding and solving the root causes of problems using the zero defects approach.</li><li>Developing interim "fixes" that are needed to maintain operation of the plant.</li><li>Capital Projects will be needed to solve some root causes of problems. Involvement in plant-related capital projects will encompass all phases of these projects, including:</li><li>Development of project scopes and justifications.</li><li>Providing review and comment on associated detailed project engineering.</li><li>Inspecting field construction for compliance with project requirements and construction specifications.</li><li>Authoring changes to procedures and assisting in personnel training.</li><li>Assisting in project startups.</li></ul></li><li>Manage the Maintenance Department to establish and implement a preventative maintenance program designed to optimize equipment life and continuity of operations and keep maintenance expense to a minimum.</li><li>Repair and maintain equipment and facilities in good order. In conjunction with the Pant Manager-</li><li>Beaumont Operations, subcontract major maintenance and repair work and make certain the work is performed in accordance with specifications.</li><li>Set up and maintain the plant equipment "critical spare parts" inventory system and revise and update when necessary.</li><li>Manage the implementation of the Mechanical Integrity Program and fulfill responsibilities as outlined in the Quality Manuals.</li></ul> ISO QUALITY RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITY Implement and follow Veolia's ISO Quality programs, policies and procedures outlined by the Standard and manage the department to meet the requirements of ISO Quality programs, policies and procedures, and ensure continued compliance through regular internal audits and team meetings. The Maintenance Manager has the authority to discharge the duties listed above. RESPONSIBLE CARE MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITY <ul><li>Practice Responsible Care Management through active participation and adherence to the Guiding Principles of the Responsible Care Management System and contribute to the sustainability of the OSHA VPP Program by continuing to uphold the principles demonstrated as a STAR site</li><li>Understand your role in Responsible Care and be able to identify the significant environmental, health, safety, and security (EHSS) risks in your area of responsibility, the controls for each significant aspect and how manage them as needed.</li></ul> HURRICANE COMMITTEE RESPONSIBILITIES All management personnel, including the Maintenance Manager, will be required to participate in the Shutdown Team (SDT), Damage Assessment Team (DAT) and/or Pre-Startup Team (PST) as prescribed by the Beaumont Hurricane Plan, or at the request of the Plant Manager. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS <ul><li>Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering. Preference in Mechanical or Chemical</li><li>Industrial maintenance experience preferably experience within manufacturing, chemical, O&amp;G, and/or paper and pulp.</li><li>Minimum 5 - 7 years' management experience in an industry setting with emphasis on personnel management, scheduling and planning.</li><li>Preferred related facility and heavy equipment maintenance experience - with heavy emphasis and experience with fluid hydraulic and reactors</li><li>Strong computer skills</li><li>Ability to read and interpret electrical, hydraulic and mechanical schematics</li><li>Communicate effectively - oral and written</li><li>Ability to pay close attention to detail required</li><li>Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality</li><li>Ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of management and employees across the organization</li><li>Sets high standards for self and others</li><li>Exceptional leadership and team building skills</li><li>Drive continuous improvement, employee productivity, uptime improvements, lead time reductions</li><li>Ability to function well in a high-paced and at time</li></ul> Additional Information At Veolia, we realize diverse teams make smarter decisions, deliver better results, and build stronger communities.
