The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences within the College of Pharmacy at Mercer University, located in Atlanta GA, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.


Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will join a dynamic faculty with broad research interests in the biomedical and pharmaceutical sciences. We offer a scientifically diverse, highly collegial and interactive research environment, access to graduate students, competitive start-up funds, independent laboratory space, and access to all Georgia Research Alliance-associated core facilitates. The applicant will be expected to develop and sustain an extramurally-funded research program and mentor research trainees in the Ph.D. and M.S. programs in pharmaceutical sciences, and will also contribute to teaching pharmacology, immunology, and/or physiology within the Pharm.D. professional program and graduate programs. The candidate will also contribute, as appropriate to rank, towards departmental, college, university, or professional service activities. Applicants for the Assistant Professor rank should have post-doctoral training and demonstrable potential for establishing and maintaining an independent research program. Applicants for the rank of Associate Professor should have existing research funding and a strong publication record.

Qualifications:

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in pharmacology, immunology, cell or molecular biology, or physiology, with expertise in one of these areas, as evidenced by publication history. Applicants with expertise outside of these areas will not be considered. Applicants with research interests in the areas of behavioral/neuroscience, cardiovascular, metabolic or pulmonary systems, which would synergize with existing departmental strengths, are particularly encouraged to apply.

The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences comprises faculty members with diverse expertise in neuropharmacology, cardiovascular pharmacology, molecular pharmacology, cellular physiology, neuroscience, pharmaceutics, drug delivery, and molecular modeling. Department faculty are broadly funded through a variety of extramural mechanisms, including NIH, DOD, and FDA, and mentor a robust population of over 60 Ph.D. and M.S. students in the graduate program in pharmaceutical sciences.
